SB5576, the STR tax bill that was passed by the Senate last week is scheduled for a public hearing before the House Finance Committee this coming Tuesday, March 18, at 8 a.m. The bill could die in this committee if we can show a strong enough opposition.
We need a repeat of the strong showing that we achieved on the Senate side to let our representatives know LOUD AND CLEAR that this is a bad bill that hurts Washington travelers and hosts and will do little to raise money.

- Testify remotely via Zoom. Last time, approximately 50 hosts testified before the Senate Ways & Means Committee, which resulted in the amendments to lower the proposed tax from 6% to 4% and reduce it back to a local tax option rather than a statewide tax.
